Kent Design Studio has recently acquired listed building consent and planning consent for the conversion of a Grade II Listed Barn, Cart Lodge and Cow Shed.

 

The property is located on the outskirts of Hawkhurst and is within Tunbridge Wells Borough Council’s area.

The conversion allows for the structures to be adapted into a large family dwelling with private road access and courtyard style garden.  This also includes an outdoor dining space and ancillary accommodation.

 

The scheme ensures the retention of important historic features whilst allowing contemporary design to sit alongside in a coherent and considered manner.  

 

Maintaining the natural volume within the main atrium of the barn was a key driver throughout the design process.  

 

The use of glass and pod type structures at first floor level ensures a visually lightwieght composition is created.
