+ Westlea House, Lenham

This Property lies to the West of Lenham village in a rural location. The main property is a grade II listed Kentish barn, which was converted in the 1990’s. The property is constructed of ragstone and brickwork with purpose made Iroko joinery, these materials were an important consideration in the design and construction of the proposals.

The Client’s brief was to utilise part of the former cow shed that had been left un-converted and to undertake internal alterations to extend the existing kitchen space. Through the design process and proposals that Kent Design Studio produced, we were able to open up the ceiling to create a fully vaulted space. In turn, the client enlisted the services of Solene at www.beam-renovation.co.uk to treat the existing beams that had been painted black and restore them to a natural looking finish.

The end result is a large, homely country kitchen flooded with natural light and complimenting materials.

Kent Design Studio provided planning and listed building services including large scale joinery details, as well as building regulations drawings and on site assistance throughout the duration of the project.
